New YMCA annual members save $50 through February

TRAVERSE CITY, Jan. 18, 2010 – Area kids, adults, and families can get fit for less during a limited-time offer by the Grand Traverse Bay YMCA.

Members of the Y currently pay as little as $15/month for a youth membership, $30/month for an adult, $40/month for an adult couple, and $45/month for an entire family. New members are usually required to pay a $50 Joiner Fee, as well. This fee is being waived from now through Feb. 28, 2010.

“Membership at the Y has always been a great value,” says Mary Winowiecki, Y membership director. “We’re hoping this extra money-savings will spur those sitting on the fence to jump off the fence and onto a treadmill or tennis court instead!”
Membership benefits at the YMCA are extensive and include four fitness areas including the Y’s weight and cardio machines, free weight room, circuit training room, and aerobics studio. Members also enjoy free or reduced rates on 65+ programs.

Other perks included with membership include:
 Free indoor tennis, 6 a.m. to 8 a.m.; free outdoor tennis 3 seasons
 Free racquetball/handball all day
 Free Y-Pilates, Boot Camp, Totally Tone, and other fitness classes
 Free child-watch services during posted hours
 Free drop-in basketball
 Free personal training sessions
 Free Family Fun Nights and middle school dances
