Y LOWERS DAY PASS RATES
TRAVERSE CITY, Jan. 14, 2010 – In a move to get more people moving, the Grand Traverse Bay YMCA today announced it has reduced its Day Pass rates effective immediately.
“Our vision is to build strong kids, strong families, and strong communities,” said Tom Van Deinse, CEO of the local YMCA. “One way of doing that is by encouraging the public to come in and use our facilities. Lowering our Day Pass rates might be the just incentive people need to get started on their resolutions to be more fit.”
The new rates include $5 per day for youth, $10 per day for adults, and $15 per day for an entire family. Day Pass users are entitled all of the benefits that come with membership, including the Y’s weight and cardio machines, free weight room, circuit training room, racquetball courts, basketball courts, use of tennis and pickleball courts, and more.
“I don’t think people realize that a YMCA membership is so much more than just a gym membership,” explained Mary Winowiecki, Y membership director. “In a single day, we might have four 70-year-olds playing doubles tennis in the morning, a group of 30- or 40-year-old guys playing drop-in basketball during lunch, and a dozen or more kids taking tennis lessons after school. Moms love our Y Pilates and ‘Boot Camp’ classes, as well as our circuit-training room. We really offer something for all ages at the Y.”
